1) Overview
OCTG stands for Oil Country Tubular Goods, referring to steel pipe products used in oil & gas drilling and production.
It mainly includes casing, tubing, and drill pipe, which are essential in well drilling, completion, and production operations.
2) Product Categories
1. Casing
• Function: inserted into the wellbore and cemented to protect the wall, prevent collapse, isolate formation fluids, and withstand formation pressures.
• Features: high strength, pressure resistance, excellent sealing.
• Common sizes: 4 1/2” – 20”
2. Tubing
• Function: run inside casing to transport crude oil or natural gas to the surface.
• Features: corrosion resistance, pressure resistance, flow efficiency.
• Common sizes: 2 3/8” – 4 1/2”
3. Drill Pipe
• Function: transmits torque to the drill bit and circulates drilling mud to the bottom.
• Features: withstands heavy tensile, torsional, and fatigue loads.
• Common sizes: 2 3/8” – 6 5/8”
