Marine & Offshore Engineering

Shipbuilding and Offshore Structural Steels Certified by DNV/ABS/LR | Engineering Resilience Against the Unforgiving Ocean Environment

Page Overview
The marine environment is the ultimate testing ground for steel. From the cyclic stress of waves crashing against a ship's hull to the immense structural loads of offshore oil platforms, failure is not an option. Tsisco Industrial Ltd. supplies a comprehensive range of marine-grade steels and alloys that are fully certified by the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS), including DNV, ABS, LR, BV, and CCS. We bridge the gap between raw material manufacturing and the stringent safety requirements of the blue economy.
1. Offshore Platforms: Structural Integrity at Critical Nodes
The Challenge: Offshore platforms feature complex welded joints (T-joints and cruciform joints) that undergo massive tensile stress in the thickness direction. This often leads to Lamellar Tearing—a catastrophic separation of the steel layers caused by non-metallic inclusions, compromising the platform's stability.
The Solution:
* Z-Direction Performance: Tsisco supplies Offshore Platform Structural Steel (P21) with guaranteed "Z-direction" properties (Grades Z25/Z35).
* Clean Steel Technology: Through vacuum degassing and calcium treatment during steelmaking, we minimize sulfur content and control inclusion shape. This ensures the steel maintains high ductility in the through-thickness direction, effectively eliminating the risk of lamellar tearing in critical structural nodes.
Mapped Products:
* [P21] Offshore Platform Structural Steel: High-strength plates (e.g., API 2W/2H Gr.50) with Z-direction performance.

2. Shipbuilding: Hull & Superstructure Strength
The Challenge: Modern vessels, from FPSOs to LNG carriers, operate in diverse climatic zones, requiring steel that maintains toughness even in freezing arctic waters to prevent brittle fracture.
The Solution:
* Certified Toughness: We provide Shipbuilding Steel (P22) ranging from mild steel (Grade A/B) to high-tensile grades (AH36/DH36/EH36/FH36).
* Thermo-Mechanical Processing: Our plates are produced using TMCP (Thermo-Mechanical Control Process) to achieve superior weldability and high impact toughness at temperatures as low as -60°C, ensuring the safety of the hull under extreme sea conditions.
Mapped Products:
* [P22] Shipbuilding Steel: Certified hull structural plates.

3. Marine Systems: Combatting Bio-Fouling and Corrosion
The Challenge: Seawater cooling systems face two enemies: aggressive chloride corrosion and Marine Bio-fouling. The accumulation of barnacles and algae in pipes restricts flow and reduces heat transfer efficiency.
The Solution:
* Natural Anti-Fouling: Tsisco offers Copper-Nickel Alloy Tubes (P19), specifically CuNi 90/10 (C70600). This alloy releases trace amounts of copper ions that naturally inhibit the attachment of marine organisms, keeping piping systems clean without toxic coatings.
* Ultimate Corrosion Resistance: For the most critical heat exchangers and seawater heavy-duty zones, we supply Titanium Materials (P17), which are virtually immune to seawater corrosion.
Mapped Products:
* [P19] Copper-Nickel Alloy Tube: For seawater piping and fire-fighting systems.

Technical Deep Dive: The 3.2 Certification Process
Why trust Tsisco? Because we don't just claim quality; we prove it.
* Third-Party Verification: All our marine materials undergo the rigorous EN 10204 3.2 certification process.
* Witnessed Testing: Surveyors from major classification societies (DNV, ABS, LR, BV) physically witness the sampling, mechanical testing, and non-destructive testing (NDT) at our mills before stamping the final inspection certificate. This ensures that every plate and pipe meets the exact specifications required by the naval architect.
